Cars Online Patch Details Dec 08

December 19, 2008 by Nick · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Cars Online

Cars Online has had a patch and there are some pretty cool things, but nothing too interesting. At least they are doing some things. But I can’t wait till they release the world to us :)

carsonlinetrainingHappy Holidays, Season’s Greetings, and Happy New Year!

Wow, who doesn’t love the holidays?  I know we sure do!  None the less, there is no amount of snow, holiday cheer, or delicious egg nog that can keep us from what we do best, and that’s making this project better for you.  Now don’t think we don’t love egg nog (because I certainly do), we just love Cars more!

So as you can imagine, we’ve got all sorts of good things going on around here.  If you’ve logged on today, then I’m sure you’ve already seen some of the changes we’ve made.  That said, how about I stop talking and start posting those patch notes?

Good idea, here they are:

Patch Notes (12.18.08):

  • Race Code Update: We’ve updated ALL the Race Codes that will be released to the public. This means that you should now be able to redeem ALL of your codes for a special collectible badge, some car coins and some special consumables for racing.
  • NOTE: If you redeem a code and get a PLACEHOLDER image, don’t panic, that badge hasn’t been “officially” released, you’re one of the lucky few who got a Car early. When that particular Car is “officially” released, we’ll update the artwork!
  • Race Codes: What’s This Pop-Up: Added a graphic showing the back of the ticket
  • Enter Race Codes Pop-Up: Added Congratulations screen after entering a code from the landing page, made the Race Code input 4 fields of 4-digit boxes (like entering credit card info), and replaced the fanfold of race tickets with graphic of back of the ticket
  • Verbiage: Several copy changes throughout the site. We do it because we love to proofread. We also do it because we sometimes don’t get enough coffee in the morning
  • Garage: Replaced green and blue shades with different shades of blue and green; renamed “Yellow Shade” to “Not-So-Mellow Yellow”, very original
  • Garage: Also add the following new functionality: camera angle change when you are customizing your car–that way you are not relying on the buttons that spin your car, you will see the correct view based on what you are adding to your car
  • Garage: Removed the locked tire and paint job in the Workbench
  • GUI: Made GUI visible on 1024 x 768 monitor. Added “Game Trailer” to GUI. Changed “Racetracks” to “Race”. We reworked those visual styles to be much more race-worthy
  • Send Us Your Comments: Added an updated “Send Us Your Comments” form accessible from the Envelope icon on the upper right side of the GUI. Now you can send us your comments AND questions, as well as let us know your name and e-mail address. Talk about exciting! We’re out of control over here!
  • Leaderboard: Click the RSN icon in the upper-right corner of the Garage–it’s totally tricked out!  Send us your feedback using the previously mentioned “Send Us Your Comments” form
  • Help: Updated some of the copy to make the Help even more helpful; replaced “Contact Us” hyperlink with our hyperlinked e-mail address (memberservices@worldofcars.com) for those of you who don’t have an e-mail application installed on your computer
  • Landing Page: New loading animation featuring everyone’s favorite little “Pit Stop!” hero, Guido!  Honestly, this is the best part of this week’s update
  • Landing Page: We also updated the “About Game” copy. It was REALLY long before, and now our awesome Marketing mechanics have completely re-tooled it, added a cool fin, some rims, and pretty much gave it more horsepower
  • Game Trailer: Added to GUI, made the trailer MUCH larger, which rocks, of course
  • Racing: Added track difficulty selection to each of the tracks. Now you can play at your level of skill. We’ve also got leaderboard rankings for each level of difficulty. If you’re just getting started you might want to check out our…
  • …Training Track: Yup, we’ve added a special Training Track for all our new and young players alike. Test your keyboard skills on the giant oval of pavement
  • Create My Car Button: The “Race” button has been changed to “Save” in the Create My Car process since you have to save your Car before you race it! Go figure
  • Congratulations Pop-Up: Updated the Congrats Pop-Up after creating a new Car for the first time, it’s awesomesauce
  • Last But Not Least: All sorts of mysterious behind-the-scenes magic!  Because that’s what we do best here at Disney

Toontown Winter Holiday Extravaganza

December 19, 2008 by Nick · 1 Comment

This years (2008) christmas decorations are up on Toontown , go have a look :)

winterholidaysmToons are having a jolly Winter Holiday as Toontown receives a seasonal Toon-up this year with brand-new decorations! Explore each neighborhood to see all of the Toontastic holiday trees and street lamps which are sure to warm the hearts of Toons all over — and maybe even a Cog or two. (Well, Toons can hope, can’t they?)

Clarabelle is joining the holiday fun with some “a-moo-zing” Cattlelog items — including complete winter outfits, fireplaces to keep Toons toasty, and a bevy of Winter Holiday Estate decorations — including an interior wreath, seasonal moldings, and a Winter Tree to top it all off.

Plus, there is a very special Estate snowman gardening statue for Toons to enjoy, which requires a gardening shovel skill of one point to plant. If you haven’t started a garden, now is a great time to get your Gardening Kit from the Cattlelog, plant a flower (Hint: use a green jellybean), then wait one day to pick it to earn one shovel skill point — then you can purchase and plant your snowman. So be sure to get one … before he melts away!

Gee whiz, that is weird! I’ll ask the tinker-talents to have a look, and we should have it sorted very soon. Thanks for your pixie patience, fly safely Fairies!

Over at the Pixie Hollow Blogs they have mention of a few different things, basically there’s some new area’s open, some new quests and lots more. I’m off to go explore! Why don’t you!

tinker-talent
Fly with you Fairies, and welcome to all the new tinker-talents! If you haven’t flown by Cottonpuff Field today, it’s time you did — Tinker Bell finished clearing the path to Tinker’s Nook! You’ll be able to find Tink there, as well as Fawn over in her hideout in Maple Tree Hill and Silvermist in her grotto in Dewdrop Vale. All of them have things to talk to you about and adventures for you to go on, so stop by for a visit! And when your wings get warm from all that flapping, fly on over to Winter Woods to cool down in one of the two new meadows!

In other news, you may have noticed getting to the Hollow just got faster! We made some behind-the-scenes changes to get you in quicker — so much quicker, that you might get there before your Friends List or your Leaf Journal! If that happens to you, don’t worry — your Friends List, Chat Bar, Leaf Journal, Pouch and Access to your Fairy Home will all appear as soon as they are ready.

PSST! Secret tip! A little change was made to Spider Stitching in the tailoring nooks. Now you place your stitches when you let go of the mouse button, instead of when you press it down. Give it a try and let us know if you like the change!
