Disney Rumored to buy Electronic Arts
According to a few news sources online, there are rumor’s that Disney could be purchasing the embattled Electronic Arts while their stocks are low. To be honest I don’t see this happening but I have been wrong in the past. I just don’t see Disney gaining anything much from purchasing EA since Disney is doing well with it’s current market share.

“Is Walt Disney Co. preparing a bid for Electronic Arts?” That’s what The Wall Street Journal’s “Heard on the Street” column asked yesterday, building on comments that Disney (NYSE: DIS) CFO Tom Staggs made during a conference on Tuesday.
Asked if Disney’s focus would be on developing in-house games over buying more developers, Staggs responded, “I don’t want you to conclude that those are in the long term mutually exclusive.” He went on to say that a “strategic and attractive” purchase would be “a possibility” for the family entertainment giant.
Did he say Electronic Arts (Nasdaq: ERTS)? No. However, a combination of EA’s battered share price and Disney’s desire to ramp up its gaming presence dovetail nicely in the rumor mill. Even if it’s unlikely to happen, let me go over five reasons why it makes perfect sense.

Hey Nick, it’s PCL from VMKF, and others. Really? Disney having Electronic Arts (handhelds?) possibly? They should stay with the internet games. They did great there. Except for the whole, pay thing. Maybe this electronic gig is all a whole rigged game that’s gonna get people to buy more things, like usual.. I have a question, but it’s not appropriate here.. (In this section it’s about the changes in VMKF)
I’m thinking it would be a good idea but not something that is going to happen.
I think that would not be such a good idea. If Disney were to buy EA, then there wouldn’t be as many “more mature” games out there that EA currently makes. If Disney controls EA, then there would no longer be “more mature” games due to what Disney believes in.
